Thanks for your interest in Open Paw®! We're happy to have you join the cutting-edge of modern sheltering as you work to provide for the education, mental well being, and enrichment of the animals in your care; help change the focus of sheltering to become an educational resource for your community; and help your animals get, and stay, adopted.
If you'd like to be an officially recognized Open Paw® in Progress shelter, please contact us at [email protected] and provide the following information.
Required Information
average length of stay for the entire dog and cat population
percentage of dogs and cats adopted
percentage of dogs and cats transferred
percentage of dogs and cats euthanized
intake number of dogs and cats per year
current number of active volunteers
Other Helpful Information
retention rates for volunteers
As you gradually implement more and more of the program, we'll ask you for updated statistics about your shelter. This is very helpful to us because it helps us keep track of how the program is working in the shelters using it (and helps other interested shelters convince their managers to adopt the program). It's also extremely helpful for you: first, it's important to have the information so that you can address the implications and work extra hard with animals who have been in the shelter for extended periods; it's also very helpful to keep track of your shelter's improvements for your own grant writing and community relations.
